Ehi Okomoyon: arrested

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has confirmed the arrest of Mr. Ehi Okomoyon, former Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company.

P.M. NEWS gathered that Okoyomon who was forced to retire over the N2billion missing notes from the Mint under his leadership was arrested on Sunday by operatives of the anti-graft agency in Abuja.

Wilson Uwuajaren, spokesperson for EFCC confirmed the arrest of the former NSPMC boss. Uwuajaren said Okomoyon was still being interrogated by operatives of the Commission as at the time of writing this story.

The EFCC spokesman did not however clarify whether his arrest was specifically over the missing N2 billion note or the polymer currency printing bribery scandal he has also been linked with.

The former Central Bank Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has also been questioned by EFCC officials over the currency printing scandal.

Okomoyon was the head of the NSPMC during the bribery, Soludo was the head of Nigeria’s Central Bank during the period of the alleged bribery which involved Securency, an Australian company.

Securency, which won the bid to print Nigeria’s polymer notes, has admitted paying millions of dollars as bribes to top Nigerian officials to get the job during investigations by Australian security agencies.
