Senator David Mark: happy birthday

Here is a golden opportunity: Nigeria’s Senate President, David Mark will clock 65 years on 8 April.

It is an opportunity to send him your birthday wishes; what you really think about him.

Born in 1948 as David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark, he has been the longest serving President of the Senate of Nigeria.

His era coincides with the time Nigerian senators and reps are the highest paid in the world, earning more salary than US congressmen and the President of the United States of America. Mark’s tea and sundry allowance is more than the salary of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

An Idoma, he represents a constituency in Benue State.

Before his foray into politics, Mark was a military governor of Niger State and a former minister of communications, with his most memorable, probably most regrettable quote being: “the telephone is not meant for every Tom, Dick and Harry”. Anyway, thank God for the GSM. Everybody now owns the telephone in Nigeria!.

Mark attended St. Francis Catholic Practising school in Otukpo before attending the Nigerian Military School.
