Nigeria’s Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday evening confirmed the appointment of Mrs. Helen Deile as new Auditor-General of the State.

The lawmakers had screened and confirmed Mrs. Deile on the floor of the House following a letter sent to the House last week by Governor Babatunde Fashola nominating her for the position.

While responding to questions posed by the lawmakers, Mrs. Deile said that she would work closely with the House Committee on Public Account (State) so as to improve on the audit system of the state promising to ensure transparency and accountability in the day to day running of her office.

She told the lawmakers that the state governor had consented to the fact that there is need for more qualified auditors in the state.
