Super Eagles invitee Ayo Saka has said Sunday Mba’s Africa Cup of Nations heroics have given “fresh hopes” to players in the domestic league.

Mba from the Nigeria league scored championship-defining goals including Nigeria’s winning goals against Burkina Faso in the final of the Nations Cup in South Africa.

“What Mba achieved in South Africa has given players in the local league fresh hope,” Saka told MTNFootball.com

“Big Boss’ Stephen Keshi has given us a chance in his team and we will not disappoint him.”

Enyimba midfielder Saka has already been capped at full international and Olympic levels and he said he will make the squad for the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Kenya on 23 March.

“I know what I am capable of, I believe in myself and I will be on the squad to Calabar,” declared the Kabba-born star, who featured for the Eagles against Guinea in a 2012 AFCON qualifier as well as in a friendly in Korea two years ago.

“If I make the team, I will justify my inclusion. It will be a great honour to wear the national colours again.”
