Twelve Year-Old Dazzles With Debut Novel

For those who embrace writing as a career, success does not come so easy. But for 12-year old Glory Osandatuwa, the road not popularly taken is proving to be where her star shines. The Proof?  Last week, the young author held her audience spell-bound with an impeccable rendition of passages from her debut novel, Jacky, The Hardworking Spider, which was launched in Warri, Delta State last week.

Osandatuwa, a Junior Secondary two student of Preston International School, Akure, Ondo State, hails from Delta State.

The event, which held at Great Hall, Chevron Recreation Centre, Warri, drew a large crowd of people from different walks of life. It also drew members of the political class, including Mrs Sheila Roli Uduaghan, wife of the Delta State governor, Matthew Mofe Edema, erstwhile Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Engineer Theo Odigie, Dr. Mark Erumi, Chaplain of Warri Kingdom among others.

Dr Tony Akpokene, Managing Director of Flomat Books Ltd, who reviewed the book, praised the young girl’s effort, stating that her talent will take her to great heights in life. He also expressed optimism that the author is a budding talent that would grow into the stature of great Nigerian authors like Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Chinua Achebe and others who have excelled in literary creativity.

While commending the efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Jolomi Osandatuwa, parents of the young writer for their effort in discovering her talent, Akpokene also urged other parents to do same to their children and wards.
