Nigeria’s Enugu Rangers’ manager, Okey Emordi has said his wards will be up against a tricky opponent in their opening match of the CAF Champions League campaign.

The Coal City side will host Sporting Club do Principe of Sao Tome & Principe on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Emordi admitted to the difficulty attached to the first match of a major competition, and however, said his wards will strive to record an emphatic victory at home.

“Preliminary matches are usually the toughest aspect of any competition, you only tread carefully to ensure you win your home matches convincingly as well as avoid defeat at away.

“Our opponents, Sporting Club do Principe are hundred percent unknown to us. We’ve tried in futility to lay hands on information about them and that makes the encounter tricky and difficult.

“We’ve resorted to sheer determination to aim at winning the encounter very well so as to make the reverse fixture easier.

“The players have responded positively and are roaring to go though most of them are still inexperienced playing at that height of the competition.

“We don’t have injury worries which I consider a big plus, so we’re looking forward to a good game on Sunday,” said the former Enyimba coach to supersport.com.

The Flying Antelopes together with the domestic champions, Kano Pillars are representing the country at the top flight Africa clubs competition.
