Breaking news: 5 killed in fresh attack in Kano

MADUABUCHI NMERIBEH/Kano

No fewer than five persons were killed by gunmen on motor bike Tuesday evening in Kano, capital of Nigeria’s north western state of Kano, where gunmen attacked the city’s monarch, Alhaji Ado Bayero Saturday, killing five persons.

The latest attack took place in Dakata axis in the city. It happened around 6p.m.

And it came just some few hours after the state acting governor, Engr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje declaring as illegal the operation of commercial motorcylists in the state from Thursday, 24 January.

Tension and apprehension have taken a toll in the comercial city since last Saturday after the attack on Emir Ado Bayero’s convoy claiming at least six lives.

The Emir and his two wounded sons were flown to the United Kingdom last Sunday for medical treatment.

Though Police sources described the Dakata attack as armed robbery, residents of the area said
they heard several gun shots.

“I can confirm to you that gunmen on motorbikes opened fire on a group of people playing draft. I counted five dead bodies and several others were wounded,” said a resident.

There were no comments yet from the police and the JTF.
