Emmanuel Oluwatumise, the two-year old son of a Nigerian  school proprietor, Olusegun Alonge, was kidnapped on Monday at Ifako-Ijaiye, a suburb of  Lagos.

Emmanuel, was born 15 years after his parents married. The father  is the popular educationist, and the proprietor of Barachel Group of Schools and also owner of several other properties in Ifako-Ijaiye.

Little Alonge who lives with his parents at Oluwo Community was said to have begun schooling two weeks ago but was abducted on Monday at gunpoint on his way to school.

He was in his parent’s black Lexus SUV with registration number LSD 374 AV, with the driver named Daniel and a private nurse, Mrs. Adeyemo when the incident happened.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the kidnappers ambushed and overpowered the nurse and the driver, snatched Emmanuel at gunpoint and sped off in their SUV.

Eyewitnesses said the four abductors wore masks and they had been in the vicinity for some time awaiting the arrival of their victim.

They added that when the kidnappers arrived the area, they parked their black Montero Mitsubishi SUV about seven buildings away from the residence of the Alonges.

A source said, “truly, we noticed that the black Montero SUV was parked in the area but we did not suspect any ulterior motive because the occupants were playing and chasing one another around their vehicle.

“But when the SUV carrying the boy and others was approaching, they blocked the Lexus SUV. We noticed that the driver resisted the abductors but when they threatened to break the windscreen, he opened the door and he saw them carrying guns. They threw the nurse under the SUV car, snatched the boy and sped off in their car.”

The nurse, Mrs. Adeyemo told P.M.NEWS, “when I refused to surrender Emmanuel to them, the assailants hit me with their gun butt several times. I slumped and they threw me under our vehicle, snatched the boy and sped off in their SUV.”

Father of the body, Mr. Olusegun Alonge confirmed the abduction to P.M.NEWS Tuesday, lamenting, “yes, my son was being taken to school when kidnappers seized my dear little Emmanuel Oluwatunmise Alonge.”

He declined to speak further on the incident as he was emotionally overwhelmed.

Reacting, Baale of Oluwo, Chief S. A. Sulaimon said the community was jolted when they heard gun shots during the kidnap incident on Monday. He therefore appealed to the state government to provide adequate security in the area.
