With a brand new car and N10million contract at stake, the race is now fierce among Nigeria’s  26-year old Ada Ogunkeya, 25-year old Ehizojia Okoeguale and 22-year old Kemi Owatemi, the three finalists to battle for the top job of MTV Video Jockey come 25 January.

The winner in the Search will be selected by the judges during the grand finale in Lagos and they will be unveiled to the television audience on MTV Base on 29 January.  Early this week, MTV Base revealed the names of the three talented newcomers who managed to scale through series of auditions and were on head-to-head in the last stage of the channel’s search for a new MTV Base VJ.

MTV Base VJ Cynthia ‘C-Von’ Okpala and MTV’s newest South Africa VJ, Nomuzi Mabena, will share the duties as the MCs at the finale. Fast rising artistes Iyanya, Ice Prince and Burna Boy will be helping the three finalists to complete their final challenges.

Lagos State-born Ada is a lawyer and an on-air personality at Inspiration 92.3 FM. The self-confessed “life enthusiast” told P.M.NEWS Entertainment Café that she feels “like I’ve been preparing for this moment in my whole life. It feels right.”

Petite and witty Kemi, known as Dahlia to her friends, and a freelancer with City 105.1 FM said the title is hers for the take as she has fully prepared for the competition right from the first edition.

The only man in the mix, Ehiz is a computer electronics graduate and has been anchoring shows right from his secondary school days. Ehiz, with a moniker “Special Slim”, said his personal mantra will be his touch as he battles for the fame and fortune: “Be the best you can be because at the end of the day you can only answer for yourself,” he says.

Ada, Kemi and Ehiz were picked by judges Banky W, Toolz, Funke Akindele and Tim Horwood after competing against thousands of applicants in the MTV Base VJ Search – Nigeria auditions in December.   The winner will join Sizwe Dhlomo and Nomuzi Mabena on MTV Base’s in-house talent roster, presenting their own chart show on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322, STV & AIT).
