Alobo Evicted At Glo Academy

Gabriel Alobo, one of the youth footballers in the Glo Soccer Academy has been evicted from the TV Reality Show.

Alobo was one of the 33 players selected from over 7,000 youths screened in Nigeria, Ghana and the Republic of Benin for the Glo Soccer Academy. While at the Academy, the youngster had the rare opportunity of being trained by two UEFA Grade ‘A’ Coaches from the youth arm of the popular Manchester United football club in the UK, and the technical team of the academy led by ex-international, Victor Ikpeba.

After his eviction, Alobo was accorded a rousing welcome from the Academy by his friends and neighbours, who thronged the Oko Ogba, Airport Road home of the footballer.

The Esogban of Benin kingdom, Chief David Edebiri, (COO), who received Alobo  from Globacom representatives, was effusive in his praise for the company and its promoters.

Five players were evicted from the academy during the first eviction exercise. 16 finalists will emerge at the end of the exercise and will go on a training tour of the Manchester United Soccer Schools in Carrington, England as well as enjoy the G-Bam Scholarship of N750, 000 each as part of the prizes.

In addition, one of them who will emerge as the Most Valuable Player will earn N5 million, while the remaining 15 will go home with N1 million each.

At a reception in his garden, located off Ogba/Airport Road, Chief Edebiri said that Alobo’s exploit at the academy is sufficient pride, given that he was among the top players in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin Republic.

“You are a true Ambassador and a worthy representative of our people”, he said.

Chief Edebiri noted the contributions of Dr. Mike Adenuga in sports, particularly football in the continent where his interventions have raised the quality of the game and opened a new vista for the discovery of young and new talents.

“Dr Adenuga’s foray into sports development is incomparable,” he noted, adding that “he (Adenuga) is easily the leading light in Africa and the idea of an academy of true youngsters will ensure that the continents’ place in the beautiful game is secured in the future”.
