Akin Alabi, a popular music video director, has declared that photography and music video directing are similar. Alabi, who recently veered into photography, has directed many music videos, including Kabakaba by Kanga featuring DaGrin, No Be Mistake and So Wa Sexy, both by 9ice.
The University of Ilorin graduate of Business Administration, who has been in video directing for years, said: “There is no difference between music video directing and photography. I just decided to explore photography because I believe both go hand in hand. Whenever I am doing a video shoot, I also do photography by the side. Music video gives us a platform and opportunity to travel to different places across the country. So, anywhere I go to, I make sure I take pictures of those places; it is a sort of documentary for me.”
He also disclosed that he is planning to release a photo book, which will show many of the country’s scenic tourist destinations.
Alabi and his wife belong to a music group, The Inspired Voices, TIV, which released a single, Komole, last year.
