Team Lagos Will Retain Title In Calabar  print

Assistant Coach of Team Lagos Football Team, Bankole Olowookere has boasted that his Team will defend the title in the 2014 National Sports Festival slated for Calabar, Cross River State.

Team Lagos against all odds defeated Team Cross River 2-0 in the final to win gold medal in the male football event. The pulsating encounter which was watched by president of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF Alhaji Aminu Maigari and other NFF board members held last weekend at the Agege Stadium.

Olowokere said their victory against Team Cross Rivers was well deserved and promised that the team will defend the title in the next edition.“We have shamed our critics who condemned us before the sports festival. Nobody thought Lagos will win football gold medal when we lost 0-1 to Team Delta in group stage but today( Saturday)  we proved the bookmakers wrong .

We want to use this medium to assure our fans that we will make sure that Team Lagos qualify from the zonal elimination and defend their title in Calabar,” he said.

Chairman Lagos Football Association, Seyi Akinwunmi expressed gratitude to God and the Lagosians who came out in large numbers to give Team Lagos total support throughout the sports festival. He said the Lagos FA will continue to develop football at the grassroots and ensure that Team Lagos retain the title they won in Calabar.
