Sijuwade made the announcement at the first management retreat of the corporation, held in Lekki, Lagos.

According to him, the rehabilitation of the tracks from Lagos to Kano, including bridges and culverts has been completed for the commencement of the train service.

He assured commuters from either Lagos to Kano or Kano to Lagos safe and cheap rail transport services during the yuletide.

“This formal launch would be announced soon to ensure the resumption of full inter-state mass transit services along the rail tracks on weekdays,” he said.

The managing director said further that adequate security would be put in place with the collaboration of the police and Man-O-War before the commencement of the service.

He also said that the rehabilitation of eastern railway lines terminating at Maiduguri was in progress, adding that trains would begin to move on the corridor in 2013.

He had earlier said that the retreat was aimed at bringing out the potential of the NRC.

Sijuwade stressed the need for strategic management of assets and facilities of the corporation in line with the organisation’s vision and mission.

    My questions are:

what is the speed of the train?
What will it be running on? Coal, Oil, Electric or what?
Has the train tracks truly checks
What security measures are in place to guide against robberies who may cause rail derailment?
Any secured hope on Boko Haram in Kano?

Many questions to ask. why not try the Eastern route and WHY KANO NOW?

If anyone is interested in a suicide mission, then follow the train to Kano

Anyone travelling with this train, must be surely ready to die. How can a rail line be opened in a terrorist state? You waste millions for the rail project, and Boko haram blows it up. You loose precious lives and all the money invested. This must be a serious joke…

pls even if we cant have advance train system, can they make the train station more secured?how can d train station be on d same level with trian track?that is below safety standard. d pavement should be raid to d level of the train doors and not as low with d train track. from this picture, its clear that d train system is design to kill people. imagine that?
