Ex-Policeman Docked Over Abduction

A 30-year old ex-police officer, Adesina Wasiu, was on Wednesday arraigned over allegations of abduction and impersonation.

The accused, who resides at Ilogbo, Sango, Ogun State, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court charged with conspiracy, impersonation, abduction, unlawful arrest and acts likely to cause breach of peace.

The prosecutor, Inspector Okoi Edet, said the accused and four others at large, conspired to commit the offences.

He alleged that the accused unlawfully impersonated a police officer and unlawfully arrested three persons: Amele Wakili, Bello Lamidi and Monsuru Owolabi.

Okoi said the offences were committed on 4 October, at 12.30 p.m., at Osokoro, in Lekki and contravened Sections 44, 79, 270 and 409, Criminal Laws, Lagos State 2011.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

Magistrate A.J Anabor granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000, with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case to 25 January, for mention.
