Kaduna family slaughtered by herdsmen

Unidentified gunmen just after midnight today attacked villagers at Madauchi village in Zonkwa, Zango Kataf Local government of Kaduna state, in Nigeria’s northwest and killed seven members of a family.

According to a resident of Madauchi village who spoke to P.M.News via telephone,the attackers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen stormed the village between midnight and 1 a.m today and killed the seven family members. They also burnt their house.

Residents of the village suspected that the herdsmen were on a revenge mission, over the killing of some herdsmen in the post 2011 election violence in the state.

A witness who confirmed the attack and killings at village , Amos Maiduniya told P.M.News that it was not in doubt that those responsible for the recent killing are Fulani herdsmen . He noted ” the area never experienced this kind of attacks not until some Fulanis were unfortunately killed during the election violence. Sine then, it has been several attack on innocent villagers.”

He also hinted that the attackers, who were beieved to have come into the village with sophisticated guns and machetes shot in all directions sporadically before they eventually attacked the house where a man and all his family members were killed and later burnt .

After the attack, the members of the village and neighbouring villages within Southern Kaduna are threatening to embark on a reprisal attack if the security agencies fail to identify and arrest the attackers, they insisted are fulanis .

The Kaduna Police Public Relations Officer, Aminu Lawan told P.M.NEWS that the police were aware and that they have deployed a police team to confirm and investigate the reason for the attacks.
