9 Home-Eagles Join Squad For Venezuela Friendly

Nine Nigeria home-based players have been selected to join up with the 11 foreign-based stars earlier invited for the international friendly against Venezuela on 14 November in Miami, United States of America.

P.M.News gathered that the list was announced on Saturday by Assistant Coach Daniel Amokachi on behalf of the Chief Coach Stephen Keshi.

Skipper/goalkeeper of the home-based Eagles, Chigozie Agbim, who recently moved from Warri Wolves to Rangers International of Enugu, topped the list, while Sunshine Stars skipper, Godfrey Oboabona made the team.

Also, left back Benjamin Francis, who has been impressive in the Eagles’ camp was listed along with Warri Wolves centre back Azubuike Egwueke and Solomon Kwambe, who is gradually establishing himself in the right back position.

The others are Kano Pillars centre back, Zango Umar, light skinned Heartland of Owerri midfielder, Henry Uche, former Golden Eaglets skipper, Sunday Mba also of Warri Wolves and Rangers winger, Ejike Uzoenyi.

Shola Ameobi of Newcastle United of England, the duo of John Mikel Obi and Victor Moses of Chelsea, Levante of Spain’s Obafemi Martins and seven other foreign-based players were earlier shortlisted by Keshi to confront Venezuela in America next week.

Meanwhile, the home-based Eagles on Saturday, defeated an amateur side, Water Football Club of Abuja 3-1 in their last preparatory game ahead of the international friendly.
