‘Games ’ll Be Secured’

All Athletes and officials of the 36 states of the federation that will participate at the 18th National Sports Festival, NSF, holding in Lagos from 27 November to 9 December, 2012 have been assured of their safety during the multi sports championship.

This assurance was given by the chairman of the security sub-committee of the Local Organising Committee, LOC, of the tournament,  ACP Vincent Brown during their inspection of  all the allocated venues for the festival.

Speaking during the inspection of the Gymnasium at the National Institute of Sports, NIS, at the National Stadium in Surulere, Brown said that modern security gadgets would be installed at all the venues to forestall any security challenges, adding that security men would be at all entry points and exits of all the venues.

“Our main duty is to maintain law and order while protecting the lives and properties of all the contingents throughout the duration of the EKO 2012. And for us to do this informed our inspection of all the venues today (Tuesday). I can assure Nigerians that we would secure all the athletes and officials by ensuring that we are steps ahead of all the challenges that might arise,” Brown said.

Some of the venues already inspected include the Teslim Balogun Stadium and its hostel, the National Stadium, both in Surulere, the University of Lagos, Onikan Stadium, Lagos Lawn Tennis court, Onikan and Tafa Balewa Stadium, TBS, Lagos.

The team will inspect Agege Stadium in Agege and a few others today.
