A businessman, Ikechukwu Ogbodo has stabbed a lady identified as Adaku Kalu and bit Grace Suwa after they snubbed him in a popular night club at Isolo, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
He stabbed Adaku with a broken bottle. The victims were rushed to a hospital where they are being treated.
The incident happened at Delicious Treat, a popular night club in Ire Akari Estate, Isolo, Lagos.
Consequently, Ogbodo was arrested by the police and charged before Isolo Magistrate’s court for assault.
The 36-year Ogbodo from Enugu State had thought he would woo the two women with money. But he was wrong.
Ogbodo said that he was thoroughly embarrassed by the women who insulted him in the presence of his friend.
He said as he was trying to ask why they snubbed him, they went ahead to insult him, which he could not take any longer.
Adaku explained that when Ogbodo approached her to have fun with her, she told him she came there with a man.
“And besides, I am not a hussler. I only went there with my friends to relax,” she explained.During the fracas the victims lost their phones and gold jewellery which they alleged Ogbodo stole.
His action landed him in prison custody after he was arraigned on a three-count charge of assault, stealing and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.
The prosecutor, Mr Onime Idowu said the offence he committed was contrary to sections 173, 44 and 17 of the Criminal Code. Ogbodo pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubenji granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The matter was adjourned till 5 November, 2012.
