Nigeria’s foremost college of technology, Yabatech, has been described as a beautiful work of art.

This submission was made by Mr. Richard Acqueye, a senior lecturer at the Department of Textile Design and Technology, Takoradi Polytechnic, Ghana.

Acqueye who made this known to Campus Square on Tuesday when he arrived the institution for the 1st International Conference on Global Textile Manufacture and Market, said that seeing the institution firsthand was an opportunity he was waiting for.

According to him, “One of the students in my department was here about five years ago for the West Africa Games, WAPOGA and he told me that wonderful things were happening here. Then, I told myself that I would be here to see things for myself as soon as the opportunity presented itself.

“When I got here, the sculpture piece that I saw at the entrance amused me and the buildings are also fantastic. One of my lecturers even asked me to look for a means of having a link with the school.”

“It’s a global event which we organised to create awareness on the dwindling fortunes of textile industry in Nigeria. The conference will also help us brainstorm and synergise with industry stakeholders from other parts of the world on how to move forward in the industry,” he hinted.
