Controversy is now trailing yesterday’s fracas, which occurred during the National Sport Festival Zonal Elimination football match between Osun and Ekiti States at the Federal Polytechnic Sports Complex, Ado-Ekiti.
While the former FIFA instructor, Festus Onigbinde blamed the organisers for not providing maximum security for the tie, the Ekiti FA has also pointed an accusing fingers to Onigbinde for fuelling the crisis.
It was gathered that Osun were leading by a goal when the Ekiti fans allegedly invaded the field to express their grievances over bad officiating against the hosts.
Onigbinde, who was at the venue as an observer, told P.M.News early today that it was very unfortunate that the organisers failed to provide an adequate security for the match.
“I was not attacked or molested by the irate fans, neither did I come to Ekiti to influence any referee’s decision as the people claimed. All I can say is that I am very disappointed about the fracas.”
