Ajeh Wear is a clothing line that is mostly patronized by celebrities in Nigeria. Virtually all the major players in the country’s music, movie and comedy sectors adorn the outfit designed by Tony Okoye.

Even American Pop star, Akon, during a recent visit to Nigeria described Ajeh as an “urbanizing African design, infused with rich and true African nature.”

Nigerian celebrities who have also endorsed Ajeh include P-Square, D’banj, WizKid, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Bracket, 9ice, Ruggedman, Ini Edo, Genevieve Nnaji, Davido and Don Jazzy to mention a few.

Recently, a fashion exhibition was held in honour of the clothing line at Shoprite, Alausa-Ikeja, Lagos. During the show, male and female models in a catwalk session unveiled several unique designs of the outfit.

According to the producer, Tony, Ajeh is inspired from the true art of African culture and paintings, and has been created since 1996. He added that ‘Ajeh’ is coined from the word ‘Ajehbuttah,’ meaning born with a golden spoon.

“It is designed for celebrities; perhaps that is why the tops are a bit expensive. It is not meant for common people, and honestly, the acceptance so far has been overwhelming, both home and abroad,” Tony hinted.

A native of Anambra State, Tony, who is in his 30s is a graduate of Creative Arts from the University of Maiduguri.
