Entertainers Mourn Amadi

Nigerian entertainers have continued to mourn the Group Entertainment Editor of Vanguard Newspaper, Ogbonnaya Amadi, who died on Wednesday of asthmatic attack.

Among early callers at Amadi’s Ifako/Fagba residence yesterday were Yeni Kuti, Daddy Showkey, Dele Abiodun and Stella Monye to mention a few.

In their condolence remarks, the entertainers described the late Dede Nne as not just a workaholic, but a professional who carved a niche for himself in entertainment journalism.

In the words of Galala music crooner, Daddy Showkey, “The news of Amadi’s death came to me as a huge shock. I first saw the news on my blackberry and up till now, I don’t want to believe it.”

Movie producer cum director, Fidelis Duker, described the deceased as “a jovial and candid person. We met at an event few days ago and he introduced me to his lovely wife…I wish this is just one of his jokes.”

The late Amadi, 50, died in a private hospital after being rushed there following an asthmatic attack.

P.M.NEWS gathered that being a chieftaincy title holder, he is expected to be buried in his hometown in the Eastern part of Nigeria.  He is survived by his wife and children.
