Nigerian stocks close higher for the second day

Just like it happened Monday, transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday appreciated by 0.27 per cent with some companies recording significant share price gains.

The All- Share Index which opened on Monday at 21,183.34 rose by 56.17 basis points or 0.27 per cent to close at 21,239.51 points

The market capitalisation grew by N18 billion or 0.27 per cent to close at N6.780 trillion compared with N6.762 trillion recorded on Monday.

NewGold led the price gainers’ chart with N5to close at N2, 525 per unit.

DangoteCement came second with N2.50 to close at N108, while Ashaka Cement garnered 42k to close at N8.98 per share.

Cement Company of Northern Nigeria (CCNN )also appreciated by 24k to close at N5.11, while ETI rose by 17k to close at N10.99 per share.

On the other hand, Guinness led the losers chart with N1.92to close at N227 per share.

MRS trailed with N1.82 to close at N34.68, while UAC Property dropped by 51k to close at N10.07 per share.

Berger Paint, depreciated by 47k to close at N9.08, while Dangote Flour dipped by 28k to close at N5.32 per share.

The banking sub-sector remained the toast of investors with 89.66 million shares worth N626.19 million traded in 1,820 deals.

UBA was the most traded stock with 24.18 million shares worth N88.68 million exchanged in 216 deals.

FBN came second with 21.05 million shares valued at N222.41 million traded in 534 deals.

Investors bought 139.33 million shares worth N1.3 billion exchanged in 3,344 deals.

This was in contrast with 161.27 million shares valued N1.2 billion traded in 3,462 deals on Monday.
