President, Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Aminu Maigari, has applauded the board of the National League for what he described as ‘a surprise achievement’ recorded in a very short time in office.

Maigari disclosed this after meeting with the board members of the National League led by chairman, Ahmed Kawo Muazu, who paid him a courtesy call . He said he is highly impressed with the level of achievements so far recorded by the board, and pledged that the federation will give them the necessary support to gear them up towards recording more achievements to enhance the growth of soccer in the country.

“I am impressed with what I have heard and seen about the National League and what the board members are doing. This is surprising that within a few months you came onboard, you are able to record these achievements, which means that before the end of your tenure the National League would become a delight to the nation,” he said.

However, he called on well meaning Nigerians, corporate bodies and individuals to lend their support to the nationwide league, which he said is the link between the raw talents and other leagues as well as the national teams. H e noted that with adequate support from all corners, the nation can be exploiting talents that are abounding in the country.

“I am calling on corporate bodies, individuals, government and all football lovers in the country and beyond the shore of Nigeria to support the good work the board of the nationwide league has started in repositioning our football in the grass roots which is the basic for football development.”

Earlier, the chairman of the nationwide league, Ahmed Kawo Muazu had informed the NFF board members led by its president Aminu Maigari that they (board members of Nationwide) thought it wise to update them on the level of achievement they have recorded so far that was why the visit to the glass house became imperative.

According to him, “We have successfully changed the name of the league from the Amateur to Nationwide league, we have held board meetings four times within the six months in office, we have moved from a one room office in the football house to a well furnished and equipped office at the Goal Project of Package B of the National Stadium, Abuja and we have also engaged the services of a consultant and a marketing firm to promote and market our activities.”
