The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, has relocated to its multi million naira office complex at 82, Murtala Mohammed Way, Opposite Denton Police Station, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

The new 5-storey office complex was commissioned by the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, FCA on Friday, February 24, 2012.

This idea of erecting the multi-million naira office was brought about by the expansion of the activities of the Institute and the need for ICAN members and other stakeholders to conduct their businesses in a modern and conducive working environment. It was also aimed at boosting business activities of the Institute as well as serving as a one stop station for students and the general public. The foundation stone for the building was laid on October 8, 2008 by Chief (Dr.) Anthony Asuquo Ani, FCA, the 12th President of the Institute (1977/78).

The new office complex accommodates the following departments of the Institute: Student Affairs, Professional Examinations, ATSWA Examinations, Administration/Human Resources, Internal Audit, Finance, Research & Technical, Members Education & Training, Library, Information Technology and ICAN Faculties. It also has multi-purpose conference rooms, a massive car park that can accommodate about 100 cars.

ICAN, established by the Act of Parliament Number 15 of 1965, is empowered to set standards of knowledge and skill to be attained by persons wishing to become members of the accountancy profession. The Institute, which is the only Nigerian member of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), has over 30,000 members and over 120,000 students on its registers and conducts examinations twice in a year.
