Eti Osa East have themselves to blame as they let slip a golden opportunity to go top of League 1 after falling 2-5 to lowly rated Itire Ikate (Triple I FC) in one of the Lagos Junior League ties played at the Campos Mini Stadium, Lagos Island at the weekend.
Thirteenth placed Tripple I FC, who have not been living up to their fans’ expectations since the beginning of the season woke up from their slumber to thrash Eti Osa East, who are also called the Rising Star FC. This victory saw the Itire side moving two points clear of the relegation zone.
Meanwhile, Ikorodu West kept alive their hopes of clinching the Premiership trophy with a clinical 3-1 win over Oriade FC at the Strong Tower Stadium Ikorodu. The grudge encounter saw players from both sides sustaining injuries, but these did not dampen the liveliness of the encounter.
In some other matches decided at the weekend, Lagos Island East beat Ikorodu Central 3-0, Ajeromi Ifelodun fell 2-4 to Bariga, while Apapa Iganmu United walloped Igbogbo Baiyeku 6-0.
