The lifting of the ban on night pilotage which was introduced during the nation’s civil war of 1967 and 1970 coincided with the revelation that NPA has also commenced immediate 24-hour operations at the nation’s seaports.

According to the statement, the decision is to ensure compliance with the 48 hours window for the clearance of goods from the ports.

The statement which was made available to Shipping Position Daily enjoined members of the shipping stakeholders, especially the Nigeria Customs Service and freight forwarders to key into these openings and ensure quick clearance of goods from the ports, enhance faster turn-around time of vessels and reduce cost of doing business at the nation’s seaports.
