Veteran Afrobeat musician, Segun Bucknor, is critically ill, P.M.Entertainment can reveal.

The popular musician, it was gathered, took ill on 24, July 2010, after he collapsed on his way to the dinning area in his apartment on Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba, Lagos.

After the fall, he was said to have been rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, Yaba, where he was diagnosed of diabetes and high blood pressure and one week later, he developed paralysis on the right side of his body.

Speaking with P.M. Entertainment through his wife, Bola, at his residence on Wednesday, the singer, whose voice has also been affected by the ailment, said it was very terrible at the initial stage as he has spent millions of naira on drugs, physiotherapy and other things, adding, “thank God I m getting better.”

According to him, all he needs do now is to travel to India for expert advice as he is yet to fully recover from the ailment.

The wife said that when her husband took ill, he did not want to make it public because he was depressed, but now he is the one sending text messages to friends and colleagues about his state of health, among other things, she added.

Before he took ill Bucknor, whose song, Son of January 15, ruled the airwaves in the 1970s, was said to have honoured some engagements until April last year.

The music star turned 65 on 5, March this year.
