Etisalat Launches 3G Smart Phone

Nigeria’s growing telecommunication company, Etisalat Nigeria, has launched a new product called Gaga Android smart phone into the Nigerian market.

Speaking at the launch, Etisalat Chief Commercial Officer, Wael Ammar, said the phone operates on android 2.2 and boasts of features such as 2.8 inch full capacity touch screen, accelerometer functionally, Wifi and Wifi hotspot, fast internet speed of up to 7.2Mbps, Bluetooth functionally, FM radio, a 3.2MP camera and a document viewer for word, excel, PDF, and Adobe flash.

He said the phone is capable of downloading applications, email-on-the-go, document viewing and editing-on- the-go, memory size for storage, google maps and satellite navigation.

“This unique smart phone is affordable and fully customised to Etisalat Nigeria’s network in terms of hardware branding and software configuration,” he added.

He noted that there is currently no operator in the country that is pushing the 3G smart phones the way they have. “We realise that more people are embracing smart phones and tablets with the growing need for individuals and businesses to stay connected.

“The Gaga smart phone is designed for the value-conscious subscriber who wants to utilise 3G services but does not want to spend a lot on acquiring a device.

“The smart phone offer comes with free 50MB data monthly for a period of four months, and is available to all Etisalat prepaid customers,” he stated.

Ammar promised subscribers that the smart phone will give them great value for their money with access to over 200,000 applications, games, books, entertainment, business, education, sports, health, travel, weather and music.
