Scouts Hold ‘Troopy Colour’ Show

All is now set for the maiden edition of the “Troopy Colour” of the Air Scout, a wing of the Scout Association of Nigeria slated for March 4 to March 6 at the Estate Lawn Tennis Club, Jakande Estate, Ejigbo, Lagos.

Speaking on the programme, Estate Commissioner in charge of Air Scout in Lagos, Engineer Babatunde Oyetayo highlighted that the Association in collaboration with the country’s armed forces is organising the event which would be beneficial to youths.

According to him, the state governor Babatunde Fashola, has endorsed the activities of Air Scout in deepening volunteer organizations in the schools.

“The state government has given us the support to go to all the nooks and crannies of the state and bring voluntary organisations to youths. We in the Scout Association have taken it upon it upon ourselves to ensure we get to all schools especially public schools because we believe that act of Scouting will go along way towards reducing juvenile delinquency prevalent in the society.

“We have reached out to public schools. The state government has provided some uniforms for them. We are providing more to be able to bring this children out of the path of ‘area boyism,’ so that they can be useful citizens of this country,” Oyetayo said.

Commenting on the rapport with the country’s armed forces, Oyetayo said that the Logistics Command of the Air Force and the police would provide resource persons.

“They are happy to support the programme to make the youth to imbibe the act of volunteer activity in Nigeria .

“The Air Force will deliver lecture to the boys. So also the police. One of the Group Captains in the Air Force has agreed to volunteer as Camp Commandant of this event,” he said.

Relevant topics in Aviation, he said, would be imparted to the participants.  Nigerians from many walks of life are expected to be among the dignitaries that would grace the event.
