The chairman, Apapa/Iganmu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Dr. Adesola Samuel Adedayo was yesterday impeached by the legislative arm of the council.
But Adedayo, in a swift reaction, told P.M.NEWS that his alleged impeachment was a kangaroo proceeding as it did not follow due process.
The medical practitioner turned politician claimed that the impeachment notice was not served on him or the Lagos State House of Assembly, while the council lawmakers did not follow the laid down procedure.
Yesterday, when the chairman was expected to defend himself on some allegations, the legislative arm claimed Adedayo brought thugs to the council premises who prevented them from entering.
The lawmakers then moved to Marine Beach, Apapa, where it sat and Hon. Ahmed Dauda Balee moved the motion for Adedayo’s impeachment. He was supported by Hon. Ademola Ajitomi.
By a unanimous resolution of the legislators, Alhaja Funmilayo Mohammed Akande was mandated to replace the sacked chairman.
The legislators also passed another resolution to stop any transaction between the council manager and treasurer with the impeached chairman.
