An estate agent, Adesina Ibrahim Adewale, 35, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Isheri, Lagos, Nigeria for obtaining money under false pretence.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Rotimi Okoye arraigned the accused on a two-count charge of felony and obtaining money under false pretence.
According to the prosecutor, Adesina obtained N200,000 from one Olayemi Ogundami on the pretence of providing her with a three-bedroom flat, which he failed to provided.
The police alleged further that Adesina who claimed to be a graduate of Engineering from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, failed to return the woman’s money to her.
The offences are punishable under sections 516 and 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2003.
The trial magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan Oni admitted him on bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties, she directed, must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government and one of them must be his blood relation.
The matter has been adjourned till 23 February, 2011 for mention.
