Cult groups who clashed in various areas of Benin City, Edo State, have left the areas with corpses and persons injured in the clash.

Many of the victims died and others injured as a result of clashes over the sharing of electoral booties.

Their first battle ground was at Uwelu junction when two men on a motor bike pursued and shot dead a suspected cult member, Tony Idemudia. The assailants  waited until he died on the spot before they left.

An eyewitness told P.M.NEWS that they belong to the Eiye Fraternity.

The celebration of the Eiye members who killed a Black Axe man was cut short by his colleagues who came to retaliate and killed two members of Eiye group  along Textile Mills road. This led the Axe Fraternity members to retreat and regroup at second junction street where they confronted their opponents and  killed an Eiye member called Osas.

According to Mr. Omo Omoigbe John who witnessed the attack, the clash was a bloody one which forced many residents of Textile Mills to run for their lives.

The Edo State Police Command spokesman, Mr. Peter Ogboi, did not pick his call when our Correspondent called to comment on the cult battles.

The corpses of the victims were, however, seen as a police van had conveyed them to a hospital along Sapele road this morning.
