Nigerians have been advised to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to pray for Muslims on pilgrimage and celebrate the festival in line with the directive of Prophet Mohammed.
National President of Nawair-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji (Chief) Abdul-Ganiyu Adegboyega, offered the advice in his eid message in Lagos.
He said that the essence of the festival was sacrifice and total obedience to the will of Allah and urged political leaders in the country to make sacrifice in the interest of the people.
Alhaji Adegboyega also enjoined Muslims to use the occasion to remember the country in prayer as well as people affected by flood and other natural disasters in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
He commended the National Assembly members for their commitment to free and fair election through the speedy amendment of the country’s electoral act so that INEC would have enough time to prepare for 2011 general elections.
The cleric also urged Lagos doctors and university lecturers to go back to work in the interest of the affected people and continue their negotiations with government, noting that there may be enough to take care of everybody’s need but there could never be enough for everybody’s greed.
