FG Approves Funds For Remodelling 4 Airports

The Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Fedelia Njeze, this morning disclosed that the Federal Government has approved money for the remodelling of the four international airports in Nigeria.

The minister, who was on an undisclosed visit at the Headquarters of Arik Air in Ikeja, Lagos, South West Nigeria, said that the remodelling of Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt and Lagos airports will last one year.

The remodelling will also involve local airports in the country, the minister said.

Although she did no disclose how much has been approved, Njeze said that President Jonathan was not happy with the state of Nigerian
airports, especially international airports.

The minister also disclosed that the Air Field Lighting which allow flight operations at night at the Lagos domestic airport will be fixed
within a period of three months.

“When we start fixing them, we will complete them within three months,” she told journalists.

The minister met with Arik Chairman, Arumemi and Durector General of NCAA, Dr. Harold Demuren.

Arik Air has refused to relocate to MMA2 and has been operating from GAT.
